Accordingly, the objective of the Scheme is to honor traditional cultural identity; enhance cultural exchange across regions nationwide and with several countries; ignite pride, encourage, and motivate ethnic communities to strive for the rapid, sustainable, and civilized development of Dak Lak Province while preserving its unique identity. The Scheme aims to sign export contracts for durian, attract investment projects in the durian industry, increase export planting area codes, boost domestic consumption, call for investors to develop freezing plants, establish production lines for diverse processed durian products, and serve as a hub for connecting supply and demand, exchanging information among farmers, businesses, scientists, and managers. It also seeks to promote the Dak Lak Durian brand and honor the economic value of high-quality specialty fruits, which are the province's strengths.
Simultaneously, the Scheme aims to establish the Durian Festival as a cultural-tourism product, stimulating the province's tourism development with impressive highlights such as: setting a record for the largest convoy of pickup trucks promoting durian, the largest durian tower in Vietnam, the Durian Road, durian product auctions, grand music nights, and more. These activities are designed to attract domestic and international tourists to Dak Lak, turning local orchards into cultural, culinary, and eco-tourism destinations, with durian products becoming distinctive travel gifts from Dak Lak.
The festival also seeks to honor the image of durian farmers, inspiring them to work diligently and contribute to the province's agricultural economic development.
The event is expected to attract 300,000 visitors for sightseeing and experiences, while also increasing the number of long-stay tourists through a series of activities and appealing souvenirs.
Additionally, the organization of the festival must adhere to the directives and guidance of the Standing Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee. The implementation of festival activities must align with the approved plan, ensuring close coordination among departments, agencies, wards, communes, associations, unions within the province, and related units and businesses.
The main participants of the festival include farmers, local residents, and domestic and international tourists.
Time: From August 15, 2026, to September 2, 2026.
Location: Buon Ma Thuot Ward, Krong Pac Commune, Tuy Hoa Ward, and durian-growing communes across Dak Lak Province.
