In response to the 2016 Earth Hour Campaign, Dak Lak youths held meaningful activities to call for everybody to save up power and join hands to protect the environment.

In the afternoon of March 12, along with a wide range of activities of “Buon Don Ethnic Traditional Cultural Festival”, a ceremony on praying for elephants’ health was held at Bay Rong water wharf (Krong Na Commune, Buon Don District). This traditional ritual is one of the oldest traditions of ethnic minority people in the Central Highlands and has an important position in their spiritual lives.

The Opening Ceremony of Buon Don Ethnic Traditional Cultural Festival 2016 was held in Krong Na Commune, Buon Don District by the Buon Don People’s Committee.

On the morning of 9th March, the delegation of Australia Embassy in Viet Nam led by Mr. Hugh Borrowman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary paid a working visit to Dak Lak province. Mr. Y Dham Enuol, the standing Vice Chairman of PPC received and worked with the delegation.

On March 8, the working delegation of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) led by Minister Cao Duc Phat carried out a field trip in Krong Buk District and worked with the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) on preventing and fighting drought in Dak Lak. Receiving the delegation were Mr. Pham Ngoc Nghi-Deputy Secretary of the Provincial People’s Committee, Chairman of the PPC along with representatives of the relevant provincial departments and sectors.

In the afternoon of 7th March, the Central Highland Steering Committee held a conference on examining preparation for upcoming elections of the National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for 2016-2021 tenure as well as work to address local drought. Chairing the session was General Tran Dai Quang, also Politburo Member, Minister of Public Security, and Head of the Central Highland Steering Committee.
