On the morning of April 2, Comrade Dao My, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to review and finalize the draft proposal for the First Dak Lak Durian Festival in 2026.

According to the draft proposal, the First Dak Lak Durian Festival in 2026, themed "Dak Lak Durian - Connecting and Reaching Far," is scheduled to take place from August 15 to September 2, 2026.
In its inaugural organization at the provincial level, the festival will be primarily held in Buon Ma Thuot Ward, Krong Pac Commune, Tuy Hoa Ward, along with other durian growing localities within the province.

The festival is expected to feature key activities, including: the opening ceremony at March 10 Square; a parade of pickup trucks promoting durian; a Durian Fair showcasing gift products, OCOP items, and Dak Lak agricultural products; a durian industry trade conference; a durian culinary festival; an auction of durian products from local orchards; an international DJ and grand music night; the Tuy Hoa Half Marathon; and tours offering durian tasting experiences at orchards. Additionally, several unique activities will be organized prior to the main events of the festival, such as the "Durian Flower Pollination Experience" tour and a talk show on durian culinary arts and nutrition. Furthermore, the Festival Organizing Committee plans to hold press conferences to promote the festival in Hanoi and Dak Lak.

In his directive speech at the meeting, Comrade Dao My, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the 2026 Durian Festival is a significant event for promoting the province's durian brand. He requested the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to take the lead in urgently reviewing the proposal's contents, particularly clarifying the assignment of responsibilities to relevant units and localities. Activities within the festival framework must meet the criteria of being substantive and effective, striving to leave a positive and lasting impression on residents and visitors attending the festival.
